Week of January 19

Week of January 19

Reminders:

1.  Monday, January 19 students have no school!  Please come if you have conferences….otherwise, ENJOY the day with your kids!!

2.  Country Western wear is Friday, Jan. 23.  Come dressed in a flannel shirt, hat, and boots for spirit day!

3.  Our next unit of study will be Egypt, and it will be BIG since we will have a huge display for WONDER night/ and accreditation.  We will have several household supplies that we will need if you have them lying around- so stay tuned for a list!  One big thing that we will need is GOLD spray paint!

Homework:  Spelling, reading comp. questions on Tues. and Wed. only, and math!

This week we will write money amounts, using the cents and dollar symbol.  We will be learning about how to pay for items using dimes and pennies, and will be learning how to subtract 2.  In reading, we will be learning about the -cy, -ci sound and spelling, and will be blending words with those.  We will be reading the Zoo Trip in our First Reader and will finish the book.  We will continue our study on the American Revolution and will study Ben Franklin, George Washington, and Betsy Ross.  We have been using Liberty's Kids to help supplement our lessons- if your children have asked, it is on You Tube!  We are also learning the song "Fifty Nifty" and trying to learn all of the states in order.  We will most likely be singing this at spirit day in the next month!  Stay tuned!
