Week of Dec. 2

Reminders:

1.  normal week this week.  Next week, half day for teachers inservice on Wednesday.
2.  You are invited to attend our advent chapel tomorrow at 8:05
3.  This Friday we will light up the tree in the great hall!  You are welome to come and celebrate with us!

           This week we will be doing A LOT of writing!  We begin a new book in Writer's workshop as we learn about non fiction texts and learning how to put information down on paper.  We will be thinking about topics that we are good at, then telling a partner, then writing about it to make booklets!  We will learn that nonfiction writers teach with pictures as well as words.

In reading, we will be working and learning about the a and the a_e sound and spelling and the tricks to determine how a word sounds.  We will dictate sentences, write, read decodables, and talk about a passage by Gary Paulsen that encourages us to look at the people who work really hard that we may not even recognize!  Continue to practice sight words at home!

In Math, we will continue to learn counting techniques and patterns too.  We will do problem solving, count money, and continue working on addition and subtraction facts too.
