WEEK OF AUGUST 26

Reminders!
1- Uniforms are this week!  Tomorrow is CHAPEL DRESS.

2.  Please remember to have your children bring back the whole bag of decodables.  It is very important that we have these tomorrow as we have already started using them!

3- BOOK ORDERS are due by Friday.  Log on, write the code in, and then you can order books if you would like.  There are some great ones for first grade!

ASK your child what a SCHOLAR is!

"A Scholar is someone who LIVES to LEARN and is GOOD at it!"

Neruonet concentration!

THIS WEEK:

We have started NEURONET training today!  Stay tuned for information of what we are doing daily in our classes to warm up the brain.  It is hard work to be in first grade!

HOMEWORK:

Each night (M-TH) we will have a math lesson in class, and then the back side will be done at home.  Please help your child place this back in his or her folder to turn in the next day.

Each night (M-TH) we will also have a DECODABLE book to read several times to an adult.  This is also expected to be done each night.

No spelling words this week.  We will begin spelling after Labor Day!

Reading:

This week we will be learning/reviewing the a spelled a, t spelled t, and reviewing all of our letter sounds and blends.  We will be putting letters together to make words, working on our very best handwriting, and working on multi step directions.  We will learn how to write like a first grader each day in our journal too!

Math:

This week we will be making towers to count by and to add.  We will be making graphs, writing the numbers 2,3,4, and 7, identifying circles, shapes, and angles, and remembering Left and Right.

Science:

We begin studying the human body today!  We will be making LIVE bodies for our hallway as we learn about our parts of the body!  Our focus is on Muscles and the Digestive System this week!
