BOOK ORDERS are due on Thursday, April 30! Lots of great books for the summer in multiple levels for your children! Take a look!

WEEK OF APRIL 27
NO SPELLING WORDS OR HOMEWORK THIS WEEK!
TESTING WEEK!
On Tuesday, we will begin our testing process. This is NOT a standardized test but simply bench marking for first grade. These tests are over all the things that we have already covered this year up to this point and will be used only to give us a clearer picture of areas of strength and weaknesses. We actually wrote the tests as a team and pulled everything from our curriculum. These are NOT meant to be stressful in any way and we will have lots of fun next week!
* Please note- we will only be doing this in the mornings. Please have your child on time. You may also send them a bigger snack than normal to help!
END OF YEAR CLASS TRIP!

* Every student must have transportation and a chaperone to stay during the entire time. There will be lunch for the children and a special treat to celebrate a great year!
Items to bring: bathing suit, sunscreen, towel
Cost: $10

Week of April 13
Reminders:
1. Costumes are due on FRIDAY in a labeled bag!
2. Normal Homework this week! Please return the Orange hardback book daily=)
Spelling:

This week we have A LOT going on! We have play practice everyday to practice our lines and sing our songs, we get to listen to the Covenant College Singers, we have Trailwise on Thursday for gardening, and MUCH MUCH MORE! We will continue to work on our reading and comprehension skills by reviewing and learning more blending sounds and spellings, dictation, doing chapter summaries, and will read a non fiction story about plants that EAT animals! In math, we are doing so much too! We have learned what CONGRUENT means, count coins daily, have daily math challenges if we are done with our work, and are even working on learning how to add triple digit addition on the iPad! Ask your child about the exciting things that we get to do everyday!
We will also continue working on Familiar Sayings and Phrases, and will be learning about Fairy Tales this week! Egypt display is down and now a CASTLE is up and even a BEANSTALK! Come take a look at all of the writing your children have been doing! We are so thankful the weather has been so good too. We have taken advantage of this and have been able to teach outside a lot lately!
