Week of Sept 23

Reminders:

1.  Please remember chapel dress is now on Tuesday.

2.  In first grade we are working on learning how to be responsible, especially in the morning.  The students are expected to take their own backpack over to their hook, and unpack it, and get ready for the day.  That being said, we strongly encourage parents if you would like to walk your child in to leave them at the door so that they can begin their day. If there is anything we can help you with please email us and we can schedule a time to meet. Thanks for helping our morning go smoothly!

We will be learning how to follow multiple step directions on paper and in class to use our auditory skills.

In math we will learning about dividing things in half, combining sets and graphing a picture, and will finish with addition number stories.  We will learn about ordinal numbers too!

Reading:

In Reading we will be reading a story called "The Red Eyed Tree Frog" and learning how to do a cause and effect story. We will learn about adjectives, and review c, k, ck, r, f, and ff sounds and spellings.  We will continue reading our decodable books in class and at home.  We will learn about how to stretch out words in Writier's Workshop and how to be good spellers as we write.  We will add details to our stories too and read them to our partners!
